1)Find out the most common formats for images and write a short description of the features of each of them.
- JPEG: It's primarily used for photographs. It is a lossy type of format, but most people can't really see the difference. You can adjust the amount of compression when saving a jpeg image, so you do have some control over the final output quality. JPEGs are extremely popular since they compress into a small file size and retain excellent image quality.
- GIF:It is very popular in the web. This is ideal for graphics. They can be static or animated.
- BMP: Standart format for Windows wallpaper.
- ART: compresses image files and sends them to you as art files.
- TIFF: It was generally used to hold scanned white and black images. It's a rich and flexible format, supported by many programs. The format is capable to record halftone images whith different pixel intensity. It is considered a perfect format for graphic, data storage and processing. It is one of the most multipurpose and integrated raster formats.
- PNG: It is ysed generally for networking. It is designed to replace dated GIF. It has photorealistic images and it compress the image.
- WMF: It is used to hold vector and halftone images in working memory or in disks with post output displays. It is a especific windows format, so it is supported by a lot of "non-windows" aplications for data exchange with windows applications. It is considered to be a general format for graphic applications and supported by all plataforms.
- PCX: Is one of the more usable graphic formats. It is grat inportant for computers and also for the computer industry. They are used for graphics data storage and exchange in desktop publishing system.
